Luan no Grêmio?

O total corresponde a R$ 4 milhões.

West Indies head coach, Shane Dietz, has called on his players to use the tour to “reestablish ourselves as a world-class team” after they were edged out for a spot at the World Cup in India later this year on net run rate. Despite chasing 167 in 10.5 overs to beat Thailand, they finished behind Bangladesh by a margin of 0.013 on NRR.”Going to England is a fantastic opportunity to play one of the best teams in the world for a long time and to really test our skills and put in practice what we’ve talked about off the pitch,” Dietz said.”The talk is cheap off the pitch; we’re going to put that talk into action and go out against England and play some good cricket. We’ve got the T20Is first, and that’s where we’ve played our better cricket in the past 12 to 18 months, so we’re looking forward to getting the tour off to a good start and playing some good attacking cricket the West Indian way.”We brought a good team to England and we’re looking forward to putting on a good performance for the crowd over there and all our supporters watching back in the Caribbean. Man City goal machine who's out on loan could be Pep's next Erling Haaland

Manchester City began the 2025/26 season with a point to prove after a disappointing campaign last year, where they finished 13 points behind champions Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola’s side were uncharacteristically inconsistent, struggling for rhythm and creativity.

This summer brought change. In came Rayan Cherki, Tiijani Reinders, and Rayan Aït-Nouri to refresh an aging squad, while a handful of younger talents were sent out on loan to gain experience.

City’s start to the new season has been mixed – four wins, a draw, and two losses after seven Premier League games – but one constant has been the form of Erling Haaland.

After scoring the decisive goal in the 1-0 win over Brentford on Sunday, Haaland looks back to his devastating best.

And while he dominates the present, Guardiola’s eyes are firmly on the future.

Most notably, on a 20-year-old striker currently making waves in the Championship.

Erling Haaland's stunning form in numbers

At 25 years old, Haaland remains the spearhead of Manchester City’s attack and arguably the most feared finisher in world football.

Valued at around £165m by Transfermarkt, the Norwegian forward has already scored nine goals in the Premier League this season, adding three more in the Champions League.

His sharpness in front of goal was evident again on Sunday when he scored in the ninth minute to secure three points against a stubborn Brentford side.

Haaland’s record in Manchester speaks for itself: 136 goals in 155 appearances.

His power, timing, and composure make him the ultimate reference point for Pep Guardiola’s tactical structure, even as the manager experiments with a refreshed lineup.

Beyond his finishing, Haaland’s work rate and movement continue to set the standard for the squad’s younger forwards.

Crucially, his form could be what drags the club back into the title race. For club and country, he’s netted a staggering 16 goals in his last nine matches.

Yet behind the scenes, there is an understanding at the Etihad that Haaland won’t shoulder the burden forever.

The club’s long-term planning is already underway—and that’s where one of England’s most promising young strikers enters the conversation.

Manchester City's future Haaland

Divin Mubama may not yet be a household name among Premier League fans, but those following the Championship will know the Manchester City loanee is beginning to deliver on his potential.

The 20-year-old, who joined City from West Ham after rising through the Hammers’ academy, has impressed on loan at Stoke City – scoring twice while wearing the No.9 shirt.

Stoke currently sit fifth in the Championship, and Mubama has been pivotal to their early-season form.

Having played in all nine matches so far, he’s shown maturity beyond his years.

Analysts predicted his success before a ball was kicked, with Ben Mattinson claiming he would be “one of the best in the Championship” if given a full loan spell.

Statistically, Mubama’s profile is hugely promising. Compared to positional peers in Eurpe, he ranks in the 86th percentile for successful take-ons (1.08 per 90 minutes), showing his confidence to beat defenders; the 91st percentile for tackles (1.21 per 90), evidence of his work ethic out of possession; and the 99th percentile for interceptions (0.54 per 90), highlighting his reading of the game.

Physically strong and dominant in the air, he also ranks in the 73rd percentile for aerial duels won (3.09 per 90) and 76th for blocks (0.81 per 90).

Internationally, Mubama has been capped at every youth level for England and made his U21 debut in a 2-0 win against Kazakhstan.

At club level, his rise has been steady. He scored 16 goals in 14 games for City’s U21s and already has senior experience in Europe, having featured for West Ham in both the Europa League and the Conference League – the latter of which he helped win in 2023.

He even marked his first senior goal for City in an emphatic 8-0 FA Cup victory over Salford City, a glimpse of what might lie ahead.

Mubama’s blend of technical ability, movement, and physicality makes him the ideal apprentice to Haaland.

The two strikers, though at different stages of their careers, embody Guardiola’s long-term vision: an emphasis on power, precision, and adaptability.

With Mubama’s performances at Stoke drawing praise and Haaland rediscovering his lethal edge, Manchester City’s attacking future looks secure.

If the young Englishman continues his upward trajectory, he could well be the next great forward to define Manchester City’s modern era.

Lammonby, Vaughan steer Somerset after top-order shuffle

Sussex attack kept at bay by committed batting from hosts down at Taunton

Half-centuries from Tom Lammonby and Archie Vaughan guided Somerset into a healthy position on the opening day of the Rothesay County Championship Division One match with Sussex at the Cooper Associates Ground, Taunton.Lammonby hit 60 and 19-year-old Vaughan a career-best 70 not out as a shuffled Somerset batting line-up posted 317 for six in warm sunshine after losing the toss. James Rew contributed 46 and Tom Abell 42 on a wicket offering just enough assistance to seam and spin to keep the Sussex bowlers interested throughout the day. There were two wickets each for Ollie Robinson and Jack Carson as the visiting attack kept a tight rein on the scoring rate for most of the three sessions. With the pitch an inviting shade of green, it was no surprise when Sussex skipper John Simpson elected to field first, despite cloudless skies and a short boundary on the town side of the ground. There was a surprise for home supporters when Josh Davey and skipper Lewis Gregory, both more used to operating in the lower order, marched out as a new opening partnership, keen to help their side overcome some poor starts in Championship cricket. They had taken the score to 21 in the sixth over when Gregory edged a defensive push off Nathan McAndrew to Tom Clark at second slip and departed for 15. But the experiment could be deemed a success as Davey settled in to play with patience and sound technique. He and Lammonby put together a half-century stand off 109 balls and it wasn’t until the 26th over that Sussex struck again, Davey, on 28, judged to have feathered a back-foot defensive shot off Ollie Robinson to wicketkeeper Simpson, who took a good low catch.Davey was replaced by Rew with the score 79 for two. By lunch, it had moved on to 99 for two and Somerset could feel pleased with their morning’s work. Rew continued his impressive recent form as he and fellow left-hander Lammonby negotiated the opening overs of the afternoon session with few alarms.Rew had progressed to 46 when attempting to drive a full ball from off-spinner Carson, who was finding some turn, and edging to Tom Haines at slip to make it 149 for three. A single off the same bowler took Lammonby to an impressive 120-ball fifty, including five fours, but he too perished unexpectedly with the score on 176, caught behind nicking a back-foot defensive shot off Carson.Abell was dropped at slip on 13 off the left-arm spin of James Coles, but Sussex continued to make inroads as Tom Banton fell for six, caught at slip off Fynn Hudson-Prentice. It was another contentious decision as the ball appeared to flick Simpson’s gloves as he stood up to the stumps on its way to the catcher Tom Alsop, but umpire Mike Burns also detected an edge, much to Banton’s obvious astonishment. The tea score was 193 for five, with Abell having battled his way to 16 without looking in great touch. He had been joined by Vaughan, also looking to rediscover his best form after a difficult spell opening the innings in previous games this season. Both players blossomed at the start of the final session, accelerating the scoring rate and bringing up a 50-stand off 63 balls. A Vaughan boundary to third man off Clark yielded Somerset their first batting bonus point at 250 for five.Vaughan had been positive from his first delivery, which he crunched through the off-side for four off Hudson-Prentice. Soon he had overtaken Abell, who fell in the third over with the second new ball, fending a ball from Robinson to Clark at second slip, just when he was starting to flow.Vaughan moved to a fluent fifty off 79 balls with his ninth four, clipped off his toes to the short boundary off McAndrew. He then went past his previous best score of 68, made against Lancashire last season, as Craig Overton helped see Somerset to the close.

Everton dealt further Jarrad Branthwaite setback as Man Utd target forced to undergo surgery on troublesome injury

Everton have been hit with more injury problems as star defender Jarrad Branthwaite requires surgery to fix an ongoing issue. Branthwaite has not appeared for the Toffees this season after sustaining a hamstring injury during pre-season training. While the club initially described it as a 'minor niggle' back in July, they have now confirmed a more serious lay-off.

Branthwaite a key figure in Everton squad

A little known Branthwaite joined Everton in 2020 from Carlisle United and, after a couple of loan spells at Blackburn Rovers and PSV Eindhoven, the young English centre-back became a regular feature in the club's starting lineup since the 2023-24 campaign – he even made Gareth Southgate's provisional England squad for Euro 2024, before being cut. In the last two seasons, the 23-year-old has developed into one of the brightest defensive prospects in the Premier League and his partnership with James Tarkowski in front of Jordan Pickford between the sticks has become quite the impenetrable wall at the back.

After two impressive campaigns on Merseyside, Branthwaite attracted a lot of interest from top clubs across Europe, including Premier League giants Manchester United, who saw their two bids rebuffed by the Toffees during the 2024 summer transfer window. The central defender evetually penned a new long-term deal in July that will keep him at Everton until 2030. Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have also been linked.

AdvertisementGetty Images SportBranthwaite forced to undergo surgery

Branthwaite suffered a hamstring injury during pre-season training which has kept him out of action until now, and he is yet to appear for David Moyes' side in the 2025-26 campaign. An injury, which was initially described as a 'minor niggle' by the club in July, has now taken a serious shape and the defender will have to go under the knife.

The official statement from Everton on the player's condition read: "Everton Football Club can confirm Jarrad Branthwaite has experienced a complication in his recovery from a hamstring injury. Following specialist consultation, it has been determined the defender will undergo a surgical procedure tomorrow to address the issue. Branthwaite will commence a structured rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the club's medical team following the operation."

Man Utd could come up with fresh bid

Manchester United had a rough start to their campaign under Ruben Amorim in the new season as they struggled for consistency despite spending heavily on rebuilding the team in attacking areas during the recent summer transfer window. While the club have now regained some confidence after winning back-to-back Premier League matches against Sunderland and Liverpool, the woes in Amorim's squad still remains. The team's back-line, which requires a lot of centre-backs, has been particularly vulnerable as thave conceded 12 goals already in eight appearances.

In a bid to fix their problems in the second half of the season, the Red Devils are reportedly plotting a fresh £65 million ($87m) move for Branthwaite, despite the player signing a new long-term contract only a few months ago. The young English star has emerged at the top of a number of clubs' shopping lists owing to his blend of physicality and ability on the ball, fitting of a modern style centre-back.

GettyMan Utd ready reignite interest Baleba

Not just the centre of defence, but Amorim is also targeting a new central midfielder, a position which has emerged as vital for his 3-4-2-1 formation. Currently, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro are playing at the middle of the park with Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo sitting on the bench as cover options. Mainoo has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after the youngster has grown frustrated with lack of game time just months before the World Cup next summer.

United considered making a move for Brighton's Carlos Baleba during the summer window, but were unable to finance another deal on the back of snapping up Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko. Amorim was given £200m ($269m), with the Red Devils still waiting on that investment to deliver a sustained return. Now, further recruitment plans are already being drawn up, with Baleba continuing to register on their radar. According to the English giants are planning to use Mbeumo as secret agent in their efforts to prise Cameroon team-mate Baleba away from the Seagulls.

The new Rashford: Amorim must unleash Man Utd "wizard" alongside Cunha

Manchester United have endured yet another topsy-turvy start to the season, but Ruben Amorim is determined to turn things around and remains stubborn in his belief that his cast-iron system will remain the philosophy implemented.

For better or for worse. The Red Devils welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford on Saturday evening as they look to claim a second Premier League win of the season, and it’s crucial that they indeed score some points on the board and climb away from the foot of the division, having so shockingly finished 15th last year.

Having been trounced in the Manchester derby last weekend, Amorim will be feeling rather hot under the collar, aware that more misery might spell the end of his turbulent tenure, less than a year after his appointment.

The Portuguese tactician has been buoyed, however, by Matheus Cunha’s return to fitness, with the Brazilian forward having injured his hamstring before the September international break.

Why Cunha's return is so important

He’s yet to get off the mark for Manchester United this season after joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a bumper £62.5m package this summer, but Cunha, 26, has only played two full 90s in the Premier League so far, forced off after only half an hour with a hamstring injury against Burnley.

Described as having the qualities to be “one of the most transformational United players” by writer Wayne Barton, Cunha is the real deal, proven within the English game and boasting one of the most dynamic attacking skillsets across Europe.

United might have sold Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea – a warm welcome back to the Theatre for him on Saturday – and loaned Marcus Rashford out to Barcelona, but this versatile attacking force, usually out on the left but called into a number nine berth across the opening weeks of the term, has the chance to erase such former stars from the fanbase’s mind with a string of impressive showings.

We’ve already seen what he can do in a red shirt, and having been confirmed fit for this forthcoming fixture, all eyes will be riveted on him when the ball is claimed and space is found in the danger area.

However, he’s not the only one who could make an impact, and Amorim should consider unleashing his new version of Rashford on Enzo Maresca’s Blues.

Amorim's new version of Rashford

Rashford was once a superstar under the Old Trafford lights, but there’s no doubt that he ebbed and he flowed, and that his finest days as a Manchester United man passed some time ago.

But in Amad Diallo, Amorim might be guiding the new version to the fore.

Amad is still only 23, and came into his own as a United first-teamer last term, notching 21 goal involvements across 43 matches in all competitions.

69 games he has played in total for the club, posting 14 goals and 13 assists. Singled out by Sky Sport pundit Jamie Carragher for his “sensational” performances in a poor team last season, he must be unleashed in a role fit for his skillset against Chelsea, who boast an overload of firepower themselves.

Described as a “wizard” of a winger by journalist James Copley, Amad’s fast, furious dribbling style and innate potency have allowed him to cement a place in Amorim’s matchday squad. A strong grasp of the technical side of the attacking game is what he has, that and an eye for the spectacular.

Remind you of anyone? Was it not Thursday evening that Rashford rifled in from range to sink the Magpies around St. James’ Park? It was a bittersweet one to watch for those of a Man United persuasion, but not all that surprising for those aware of exactly what the Three Lions star is capable of.

As per FBref, the Ivorian winger ranks among the top 4% of positional peers for pass completion, the top 16% for shot-creating actions and the top 10% for progressive carries per 90, emphasising his ball-carrying skill, yes, but also the creative spark which could be crucial in serving a forward such as Cunha with ammunition from which to strike on goal.

Amad’s tactical range has been showcased across his years as a professional so far, but if Amorim opts to deploy him alongside Mbeumo in a more advanced berth than the wing-back role he has been placed in three times already this season, his attacking strengths could be maximised, thus providing United with the balance and fluency they need to finally make things tick.

It’s curious that the nifty forward manages to maintain a degree of prolificness no matter where he is positioned across the frontline, and that’s something Amorim has clearly latched onto.

Rashford, too, could play in different berths, and though each prefers a different foot, there is much the same about their shared directness and natural goalscoring sense.

In November 2024, with United at a low ebb, only Rashford and Amad were in the positive in regard to xG totals, as per Statman Dave.

Given that that trend has continued into the current campaign, with no Premier League side having created a higher xG total than 14th-placed Man United, someone of Amad’s clinical calibre must now stand up and turn things around for Amorim and the club.

Pennington five-for breaks down stubborn Yorkshire to extend Championship lead

Revis fights hard on final day but McCann, Patterson-White prise key openings for rare Headingley win

ECB Reporters Network supported by Rothesay26-May-2025Five-wicket pacer Dillon Pennington helped Nottinghamshire complete a fourth win in seven matches, this one against Yorkshire at Headingley shortly before tea on day four, to strengthen their position at the Division One summit in the Rothesay County Championship.Struggling Yorkshire were set a 463-target during the third afternoon and closed on 176 for five, losing four of those wickets in the evening session, including one in the day’s final over to Pennington.Yorkshire started the fourth day well, with top-scorer Matthew Revis and George Hill sharing a 54-run partnership to raise hopes of avoiding a fourth defeat in seven matches. But they needed much more and were later bowled out for 299 inside 121 overs, slipping to a 163-run defeat. The part-time spin of Freddie McCann made the breakthrough by bowling Hill with the first ball of a solitary over shortly before the new ball. Pennington then removed Revis for 45 just after lunch and finished with a superb impressive season’s best five for 106 from 31 overs.Nottinghamshire claimed 19 points to Yorkshire’s three and reach the midway point in the four-day campaign well placed to claim a first Championship title since 2010.Not since 2011 have they won here at Headingley, a venue at which they have only ever won five Championship matches, including this.Pennington claimed three of his wickets today in easing batting conditions to keep Yorkshire second-bottom in the table.Revis and new England Lions all-rounder Hill, who contributed 26, batted pretty comfortably through the first 85 minutes of a gloomy and chilly day.Although the former took a painful blow on the right thumb from the seam of Brett Hutton, he played confidently through the off-side off front foot and back on the way to a season’s best score in his fourth appearance. But all Notts had to do was stay patient, and you felt success would come. And it did, even if it initially came via the most unexpected route. The off-spin of McCann was brought into the attack to bowl the 79th over, the penultimate before the new ball was due.He dragged his first ball down and Hill’s eyes lit up. He went to pull, but the delivery scooted through and uprooted middle stump, leaving the score at 230 for six. Then, seven balls into the afternoon, Pennington forced Revis – playing back – to feather behind to South African Kyle Verreynne with the score on 244.The same combination ousted Yorkshire’s stand-in captain Dom Bess for 21 and then Ben Coad for five.By that stage, at 277 for nine, the outcome of this game was all but certain. With light rain starting to fall, last pair Jack White and Jordan Thompson resisted for more than an hour – and almost 20 overs – to threaten that theory. But Mohammad Abbas got White caught behind by Verreynne, whose sixth catch in the innings and ninth in the match sealed the win.

Match-winning brace ends long San Siro drought

Leao was the undisputed protagonist in a challenging match against Fiorentina. The visitors, despite their lowly league position, took a shock lead in the 55th minute through Robin Gosens. However, Milan’s star forward dragged his side back into the contest just eight minutes later, equalising with a stunning curling shot from outside the penalty area. The goal marked a significant personal milestone, ending a 512-day wait for a Serie A goal at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, with his last coming against Salernitana in May 2024.

He completed the turnaround in the 86th minute, calmly converting a penalty to secure all three points. His influence on the game was clear in the statistics; Leao recorded the most touches in the opposition box (six) and completed the second-most dribbles of any player on the pitch.

  • What Leao said about the Fiorentina victory

Reflecting on the match, Leao acknowledged the difficulty of facing a Fiorentina side desperate for points. "We knew this was going to be a tough match," he explained. "Fiorentina are going through a tough time, but they have quality players: the coach told us we couldn't give them any space… That's what we did today, a great team effort, even if the first half was a bit of a strange game. In the end, we got going."

Having recently returned from an injury that sidelined him for six weeks, Leao dedicated the performance to those who supported him. "I spent a month and a half injured: I dedicate it to my family, to my teammates who helped me and kept me in a great mood when I returned. I'm very happy. We have to continue like this."
