Michael Ball has told The Transfer Tavern that Everton’s players need to prove themselves worthy of a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad between now and the end of the season.

The Toffees have enjoyed a relatively successful season this term under the experienced management of Carlo Ancelotti.

Following the weekend’s results, the club sit eighth in the Premier League table, but they are now nine points behind fourth-placed Chelsea after losing to Aston Villa on Saturday.

They still have a game in hand on the Blues but catching them now seems unlikely at best, given the respective form of each side.

Securing qualification for the Europa League remains within their grasp but the Toffees will need to start winning with some regularity for that to become a reality.

And Ball has challenged the players at his old club to step up and show that they deserve to be a part of the squad next season, when the club will likely look to kick on again.

Speaking exclusively to TT, Ball said: “If the players want to be at the football club next season, they’ve got to start performing now to the level Carlo wants to keep them in the squad.

“It’s a huge incentive for them to go out there and prove to the fans and to Carlo that they want to be there.

“That’s by putting top performances in and winning football games and fingers crossed other teams in and around you start dropping points as well because they’ve got their own issues going on.”

وأكمل: “إذا قارنته بالقدرات المالية لبعض الأندية الأجنبية، مثل نابولي مع برشلونة أو لاتسيو مع بورتو، يجب أن ندرك أنها معركة أكثر تساويًا إذا كان لدينا جميع لاعبينا متاحين، إذا كان هناك عنصران مفقودان، فليس لدينا نفس الموارد.

وأتم سباليتي: “لقد دفعنا العواقب هذا المساء لأننا كنا شجعانًا وتقدمنا ​​للمواجهة كان بإمكاننا الجلوس في الدفاع واللعب على المرتدات لكننا لم نفعل ذلك، شعرنا بالثقة أن مارادونا كان يشاهد هذه المباراة وأردنا أن نكون على مستوى المناسبة”.

Celtic’s plan this summer should very be centred around exorcising the older players from the squad and bringing younger ones to Parkhead.

The likes of Scott Brown and Callum McGregor have proven to be liabilities at times this season while the experienced Vasilis Barkas has hardly pulled up trees either.

The Greek stopper fell down the pecking order quickly after his £4.5m deal and now hasn’t played since January, a 2-2 draw with Livingston.

That being said, the Hoops would be foolish to completely forget about experienced heads. After all, they will need a few helping hands when it comes to blooding the reserve players.

One player who could help achieve that is James Forrest.

The Scotland international will be 30 by the time the new season arrives but he is still vitally important to Celtic.

He has missed a great deal of the current campaign with injury but showed what a huge absence he’d been when he returned.

Forrest scored in the 6-0 rout of Livi last month and then found the net in the Scottish Cup against Falkirk too.

If the new manager has any sense then he’ll be front and centre of Celtic’s rebuild. He did score 16 goals and register 22 assists last term after all.

Their attack could be a vibrant one next year if they add Celtic-linked Xherdan Shaqiri to their ranks too. With the 89-cap Switzerland international on one wing and Forrest on the other, it has the potential to be an exhilarating front line.

Similarly to the Scot, Shaqiri has creativity in abundance and has technique that could frighten the life out of Premiership defences. He is quick-footed and has a marvellous football brain, something that’s earned him spells with Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Liverpool.

His 1.3 key passes per match for the Reds this season are only bettered by four players in the entire Celtic squad.

Speaking about what sets him apart, The Athletic’s Liverpool correspondent James Pearce commented: “I absolutely love watching him. He’s just a real rare breed, isn’t he? With that ability to create something out of nothing, just incredible intelligence as well as the breathtaking technique.”

Some of the things Shaqiri can engineer when the ball is at his feet are truly mesmerising. He once scored an overhead kick for Liverpool in pre-season, repeating a feat he had the audacity to successfully pull off at Euro 2016.

If an opportunity to sign him becomes available, Celtic must grasp it with both hands. His expertise could be valuable in bringing through the next generation at Paradise.

ويقترب الدولي الفرنسي، كيليان مبابي، من الرحيل عن صفوف باريس سان جيرمان، في ظل رغبته في الانتقال إلى ريال مدريد، ويرفض تمديد تعاقده مع النادي الباريسي.

وحسب مجلة “le10sport” الفرنسية، فإن النادي الباريسي يرغب في التعاقد مع ليفاندوفسكي لتعويض رحيل مبابي.

ليفاندوفسكي عقده ينتهي مع بايرن ميونخ، في صيف العام القادم 2023، والدولي البولندي يدرس الرحيل عن صفوف “أليانز أرينا”.

وتوجد أزمة بين ليفاندوفسكي وبايرن ميونخ بشأن التجديد، وظهر هذا الأمر بشكل علني، حيث قال صالح حميديتش إن النادي مصمم على الاحتفاظ بـ ليفاندوفسكي، ليرد البولندي: “أسمع ذلك للمرة الأولى”، وهذا ما يثبت أن هناك نقصًا واضحًا في التواصل بين الطرفين، ونية هداف الفريق في المغادرة خلال الصيف المقبل.

وأوضحت المجلة أن باريس سان جيرمان يراقب موقف ليفاندوفسكي عن كثب وخاصًة وأن الوضع ازداد تعقيدًا بين الطرفين مؤخرًا.

Former Sheffield United striker Brian Deane has told Football FanCast in an exclusive interview that he cannot believe speculation about Sander Berge potentially being sold for £12m this summer.

There has been talk about Berge’s release clause dropping following United’s relegation to the Championship, with some reports claiming that £12m could be all it takes to get the Norwegian midfielder out of Bramall Lane in the next transfer window.

Berge became the Blades’ record signing last January when he joined from Belgian outfit Genk in a deal said to be worth around £22m.

Considering that, Deane has rejected the idea that Berge could actually be sold for £12m, sceptical over the talk that the player has such a clause in his contract.

Speaking exclusively to FFC about the 23-year-old’s future, the ex-Sheffield United forward said:

“Considering they paid £20m for him, I think that whoever’s negotiated that… I can’t believe it. I can’t believe that would be true.

“I would say the minimum amount should have been what they paid for him.”

Whatever the case, a Bramall Lane exit for Berge does look inevitable following United’s relegation, with Arsenal just one club who are said to be interested in his signature.

– Serão tempos difíceis. A Chapecoense fez seu trabalho com louvor, mas a minha preocupação é como vai ser 2018, 2019. Não é barato montar um time de Série A para fazer um trabalho como o deles. A ajuda do mundo do futebol vai ser fundamental. Escutei que a Chape hoje tem a maior torcida do mundo, mas que por mais dura que seja a caminhada eles terão condições de voltar ao mesmo patamar de hoje. Eu sou presidente apenas por mais 15 dias. Tenho certeza absoluta de que o Maurício Galiotte (futuro presidente) e a diretoria vão ajudar este time coirmão, de origem italiana, tão verde quanto a gente, da melhor maneira possível – completou.

Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills believes that Marcelo Bielsa will stay loyal to the Whites this summer rather than head to Tottenham.

The Lowdown: Bielsa linked with Spurs job

The Argentine has done a remarkable job at Leeds, guiding them back into the Premier League and easily ensuring another year in the top flight ahead of next season.

Bielsa has been hailed as a ‘genius’ by Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino, highlighting his current standing in the game.

Spurs have been linked with acquiring the 65-year-old’s signature as they look to replace the departed Jose Mourinho in the coming weeks and months.

Speaking to Football Insider, Mills says he is not worried about the prospect of Bielsa leaving Leeds, believing that the Argentine will eventually commit his short-term future to the club. The ex-Whites defender said:

“It’s one of those, it’s not about him getting what he wants, it’s about people being reasonable. He wanted Ben White last year and he didn’t get him and still stayed.

“He’s very understanding. As long as the club are working with him and they’re both pulling in the right direction. They’re not going to agree on every decision because that’s impossible.

“I genuinely believe that he has a huge degree of loyalty. As long as you do right by him, he’ll stand by you. I don’t see any issues at the moment with Leeds and Bielsa.

“He’ll be talking to Leeds about who they want to bring in. It’s what Bielsa does, he chooses to sign a one-year deal which also means that if you do need to get rid of him at some point, you don’t have to give him a massive pay-off.”

The Verdict: Too loyal to leave

The idea of Bielsa suddenly moving on this summer would surely be a hugely worrying one for anyone of a Leeds persuasion, considering the manner in which he has transformed the Whites.

Much like Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, he has built a wonderful team spirit and is adored by supporters, arguably proving to be the key reason for Leeds’ current success.

As Mills has suggested, Bielsa does things in his own time and is also fiercely loyal, so it would be a huge surprise if he didn’t at least sign a one-year deal imminently.
