تحوم الشكوك حول جاهزية الدولي الفرنسي كريم بنزيما، مُهاجم فريق ريال مدريد، لمباراة الأحد أمام أتلتيكو مدريد في ديربي العاصمة بالدوري الإسباني.

وتعرض اللاعب الفرنسي لإصابة مبكرة في مباراة ريال مدريد، مساء السبت الماضي أمام ريال سوسيداد، وغاب الأربعاء أمام إنتر ميلان في دوري أبطال أوروبا.

وحسب صحيفة “موندو ديبورتيفو” الإسبانية، فإن هُناك شكوكًا كبيرة حول مدى جاهزية بنزيما لمباراة الأحد أمام أتلتيكو مدريد، وخاصًة أنه لم يشارك حتى الآن في التدريبات الجماعية رفقة زملائه.

وأوضحت الصحيفة أن هُناك تفاؤلا حول إمكانية لحاق الويلزي جاريث بيل جناح الفريق بالمباراة، بعد أن شارك في جزء من التدريبات الجماعية اليوم الجمعة.

VERANÓPOLIS BUSCA A PRIMEIRA VITÓRIA

O Veranópolis terá a missão de vencer pela primeira vez neste Gauchão para tentar deixar a zona de rebaixamento ao término da sexta rodada. Além do VEC, Brasil de Pelotas, o primeiro time antes da zona de descenso, e Aimoré ainda não triunfaram no Estadual.

O VEC tem, ao lado de Novo Hamburgo e Aimoré, o pior ataque do Gauchão, com apenas dois gols marcados. Uma das esperanças de reação é justamente os gols do atacante Lê, que está em sua quarta passagem pelo clube pentacolor. Ele disputa seu quinto Estadual pelo VEC. ويستعد الرجاء المغربي لملاقاة الأهلي في السوبر الإفريقي الذي يقام في قطر يوم 22 ديسمبر الحالي.

ووفقًا لما ذكره موقع “البطولة” المغربي، فإن حافيظي استغل تواجده في قطر للمشاركة في كأس العرب لمطالبة وكيل أعماله بالبحث عن عروض احتراف خارجية وبالتحديد في الخليج.

Steve Bruce must recall Christian Atsu, with Newcastle United forced to turn back to one outcast when the St. James’ Park outfit resubmit their 25-man Premier League squad.

According to The Shields Gazette, the Magpies will be forced to offer one of Atsu, Henri Saivet or Achraf Lazaar a mid-season reprieve, or call up a player from the Under 23s, when they issue their readjusted teamsheet for the remainder of the term.

The trio found themselves omitted from the list when Bruce submitted his original squad for the 2020/21 campaign, but Bruce is now left in the potentially embarrassing position of returning to their services following the exit of DeAndre Yedlin to Galatasaray on Deadline Day.

Premier League clubs must name a full 25-man squad for the second half of the season and while United signed Joe Willock on loan from Arsenal, the 21-year-old will not fill the place vacated by Yedlin due to his age.

Newcastle are claimed to have left the spot vacant for the potential signing of Hamza Choudhury, though saw his proposed loan move from Leicester City collapse, despite having terms agreed and the midfielder being keen on a temporary switch to Tyneside.

Bruce is now expected to decide between Atsu, Saivet and Lazaar for the Toon’s remaining spot, despite deeming the trio all surplus to requirements last summer ahead of becoming free agents at the end of the current term.

Clubs have to issue their readjusted squads ahead of the next round of fixtures, starting this weekend when Aston Villa host Arsenal for the 12:30 kick-off on Saturday lunchtime.

Atsu and Saivet are noted to have recently been reintroduced to first-team training sessions having previously been told to work away from the senior group, while Lazaar remained at St. James’ Park after failing to see his contract terminated to secure a return to Italy last month.

But Atsu is the only answer to Newcastle’s crucial decision, as the Ghanaian forward should be able to offer far more than either of Saivet or Lazaar and will surely have felt hard done by to have missed out on a place last summer.

Atsu entered the off-season on the back of his most creative Premier League campaign in black and white, having contributed three assists, despite playing just 739 minutes all term. Only Allan Saint-Maximin (4) and Andy Carroll (4) created more goals for the Toon in 2019/20.

The Magpies have continued to be starved of creativity this season, with Callum Wilson not only the top-scorer with 10 goals but also the lead assist maker with five – Joelinton (2) is the sole additional Newcastle player to have created more than one in the top-flight.

With Willock also joining Matty Longstaff, Sean Longstaff, Jonjo Shelvey, Isaac Hayden and Jeff Hendrick on Deadline Day, the engine room is packed to the rafters already without the potential addition of Saivet.

Saivet has never achieved anything of worth for United, either, with the 30-year-old having made the last of his mere eight first-team appearances in January 2018. The same goes for Lazaar, who has made just 10 outings for the club after being overlooked heavily since joining from Palermo for £2m in 2016.

Atsu may not feature much between now and the end of the season if the £3.5m-rated winger is chosen to make up the numbers, given Bruce’s stance in the summer. But he is sure to be a more worthwhile addition than Saivet, Lazaar or an unproven youngster in a potential relegation fight.

Reports by 90min earlier this week claimed West Ham United are weighing up a move to sign free-agent Ahmed Musa, but David Moyes should ignore a potential deal for the former Leicester City striker.

It is thought the Hammers, as well as Newcastle United and Southampton, are considering the Nigeria international as a late post-window addition to add a bit of extra firepower to their attacks after West Bromwich Albion passed on the 28-year-old.

Musa had been training with Sam Allardyce’s side in a bid to prove his fitness to the relegation-threatened Baggies, as he strives to secure another shot at playing in the Premier League, per the Express and Star.

The Hawthorns’ outfit chose against tabling a contract offer as they felt Allardyce was already well equipped with stronger options in Musa’s preferred wide position, while Karlan Grant and Callum Robinson can slot in at striker if needed.

Musa has not played in the English top-flight since Leicester struck a deal to sell the £5.5m-rated dud to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in 2018, two years after he became the Foxes then club-record signing for £16m.

Much was expected of the ex-CSKA Moscow forward who scored 61 times and provided 33 assists in all competitions for the Russian Side when he joined the Foxes and left Claudio Ranieri amazed after a dazzling run to score a great solo goal against FC Barcelona in the International Champions Cup.

“This is why we paid the money for him,” the Premier League winning coach said.

Yet Leicestershire Live slammed Musa when assessing why his time at the King Power Stadium eventually fell apart, noting how the Nigeran could ‘run the ball straight into touch as though he had been playing Fifa and forgot to let go of the sprint button’.

The publication also noted how his performances never resembled a player whose preferred position was out wide, while his goal-scoring record in the Premier League was appalling as he found the net twice in 21 games.

All from a player who Ranieri dubbed “excellent” and suggested was finally finding his path in the English game after scoring twice from the bench against Everton in an FA Cup tie in 2017.

If Moyes were to sign Musa, West Ham fans would be allowed to expect a similar flop rocking up at the London Stadium to the one Leicester supporters were forced to endure, as being out of the side more than in the starting line-up guaranteed he never found any consistency or the confidence to build on.

That was hardly a surprise when he was going toe-to-toe with Jamie Vardy for the starting gig or Riyad Mahrez on the wing, two players who ran the show at the King Power Stadium.

And would he be expected to displace Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen or Said Benrahma in east London if he were to join the Irons? That would be unlikely, especially after months out in the cold and being passed on when allegedly offered to Moyes back in November.

It would be one massive blunder to sign him for the sake of having that additional option.

هنأ محمد أبو تريكة نجم النادي الأهلي السابق، القلعة الحمراء بالتتويج بكأس السوبر الإفريقي على حساب الرجاء المغربي اليوم الأربعاء.

الأهلي فاز على الرجاء، بنتيجة 6-5 بركلات الترجيح، عقب انتهاء المباراة في وقتها الأصلي بالتعادل الإيجابي بهدف لكل فريق، وذلك في المباراة التي أقيمت في قطر.

Leeds were, unsurprisingly, rather quiet during the January transfer window.

However, their efforts ahead of the summer are seemingly being ramped up as each week passes by.

What’s the word?

Leeds are reportedly eyeing a switch for Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.

That’s according to Football Insider sources, who suggest that the Whites are ready to join the race for a player that turned down Newcastle after a £35m bid in January 2020.

The player is now valued at around £20.7m via Transfermarkt but it wouldn’t be a shock to see a similar bid to Newcastle’s required in order to prise him away in a few months time.

After all, Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Leicester were also stepping up their pursuit of Soumare, someone he claims might be worth around £30.3m.

Struijk upgrade

When Kalvin Phillips doesn’t play at the base of Marcelo Bielsa’s midfield, his team tends to struggle. Of the four games that Pascal Struijk has played in that part of the pitch as his replacement, Leeds have failed to win a single one of them.

In fact, in nearly every one of those games, they’ve been utterly demoralised, losing those outings by an aggregate scoreline of 15-6.

Even if the young Dutchman scored at the Emirates when playing in that role, he clearly doesn’t offer the same sort of presence and composure that Phillips does.

With that in mind, finding someone externally that’s capable of playing in that role has to be among Victor Orta’s priorities for the summer. Fortunately, they’d find a perfect remedy in Soumare, a player hotly tipped as one of the next big things in French football.

Compared to Paul Pogba, the 21-year-old is improving by the day and his enormous range of qualities make for eye-catching reading.

Speaking about the midfield general in 2020, Lille president Gerard Lopez commented: “He’s one of the very best at his job. He’s technical, with incredible physical power and wins a great deal of possession. He’s a modern No.6 or 8. We’ll see him in the France team very soon.”

Soumare is yet to be capped by his country but a quick look at the statistics tells you it might not be long before France come knocking. Certainly, a move to the illustrious Premier League will help his cause.

If we use Soccerment’s comparison tool, we can easily compare Soumare and Phillips. Above, the Leeds target’s statistics appear in blue while Phillips’ are in green. That means the French prodigy has a greater success rate when it comes to aerial duels, tackles, passing and dribbling.

It may come as a surprise to see a defensive midfield usurping someone as busy as Phillips, but it only goes to show why he’d also be an upgrade on Struijk.

It is imperative that Leeds sign someone like this in the summer. It could be the difference between finishing in the top half and languishing in the bottom section of the table.
